Mercedes-Benz To Introduce CLA-Class In India Early Next Year
German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz recently inaugurated their first 3S facility in Nashik. They also showcased their new C-Class sedan in Bangalore at 2014 CeBIT. Prior to this the manufacturer launched its GLA 45 AMG compact SUV in India.
All these launches have been part of their ‘Year of Excellence' philosophy, which seen them launching vehicles in new segments. Mercedes-Benz still has several exciting products stored for next year. In early 2015 the German manufacturer will launch its C-Class compact sedan.
Mercedes-Benz had earlier this year launched its power packed compact sedan, the CLA45 AMG. It will be priced below their AMG model and will maintain design elements from that vehicle. The CLA-Class has been derived from their popular A-Class hatchback.
German engineers will be providing their CLA-Class in India with both petrol and diesel engines.
- A 1.6-litre petrol powered engine will produce 120.28 horsepower, along with 200 Nm of peak torque.
- A 2.1-litre diesel turbocharged mill will generate 134 horsepower, along with 300 Nm of peak torque.
Once Mercedes-Benz launch their CLA-Class in India, it will have to compete with Audi's A3 sedan. The three-pointed star has an advantage as it will retain most of their AMG package except the powertrain. The entry level cars by Mercedes have been gaining popularity and they surely have a winner at hand.
Mercedes-Benz had launched their A and B-Class in India. Both these products have been well received by Indian buyers. The trend of buying smaller luxury vehicles is catching up and we believe the CLA-Class will get the same treatment CLA45 AMG received.
