Mercedes-Benz had earlier this announced it will be launching an array of products in the Indian market. The German luxury car manufacturer had promised new products in new segments. Now they will be launching their compact SUV in India on 30th of September, 2014.
They will be introducing their compact SUV the GLA-Class. It is the first time Mercedes-Benz will be getting compact vehicles to India. They have recently launched their CLA45 AMG, compact sedan and will follow it with the regular CLA model in the coming months.
The German luxury car manufacturer had showcased the GLA-Class at 2014 Auto Expo held in Delhi. It will be imported to India as a Completely Built Unit(CBU). It will feature new stance that has never been seen India so far from the Silver Arrow.
Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed the engine that they will offer in India. However, they offer globally both petrol and diesel engine options. Currently the Indian market prefers diesel vehicles, although with the shift in fuel prices it is a bit shaky.
The GLA-Class is offered globally with the following engines:
- 1.6-litre petrol powered engine will produce 156 horsepower.
- 2.0-litre petrol engine will be tuned to extract 211 horsepower.
- 2.2-litre diesel mill will generate 300 Nm of peak torque and 136 horsepower.
- 2.2-litre diesel engine will develop 170 horsepower, along with 350 Nm of torque.
The GLA-Class by Mercedes-Benz will be launched in India on 30th of September, 2014. We Expect the compact SUV to be priced in the range of INR 25,00,000 to INR 35,00,000 ex-showroom. When launched it will directly compete with its German competitors Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
