Mahindra To Introduce RX6 In Ssangyong India Line Up
Mahindra has shown keen interest to introduce a new option in the Rexton family by Ssangyong. The Indian manufacturer of Utility Vehicles has decided it will introduce a new vehicle in the Rexton line up in India.
The Korean brand Ssangyong currently sells the RX5 along with the RX7 in India. Mahindra has now decided it will try to bridge the gap between the RX7 and RX5 by introducing a new RX6. This will be a mid option that could cater to the need of the customers.
It is safe to say that the RX6 will receive most of the options and tech that is available on the RX7. It is expected to sport LED DRLs, automatic windshield wipers as well as headlights. There could be an all-wheel drive option available with the RX6.
The interiors of Ssangyong RX6 will receive electrically adjustable seats with memory, premium leather upholstery and electronically controllable sunroof. These are a few comforts that could be provided to the occupants.
The Ssangyong RX5 and RX7 are powered by a 2.7 litre 5-cylinder engine that runs on diesel. They are tuned differently for both the vehicles. The RX5 will produce 340 Nm of peak torque along with 162 bhp. Their RX7 is more powerful generating 402 Nm of peak torque and 184 bhp.
Mahindra will use the same engine in the RX6, that the are currently using in the RX5 and RX7. The Indian manufacturer surprise everyone by introducing a 2.0 litre diesel engine. This engine was showcased at the Auto expo, which was held in Greater Noida, Delhi this year.
The new engine is powered by a 1998cc diesel engine, that will generate 360 Nm of torque and will be mated to a 5-speed automatic E-Tronic gearbox.
Since the RX6 is placed between the RX5 and RX7, Mahindra is sure to keep the pricing somewhere between the two. The RX5 currently costs 18.87 lakh, while the RX7 costs 21.1 lakh all prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
