Mahindra Adventure Secures Top Three Spots At K 1000 Rally 2014
2014 marked the 40th edition of K 1000 Rally, which was held in Bengaluru. It is the oldest rally competition in India. The K 1000 Rally is the third oldest rally competition in the world. It was part of indian Rally Championship and was the fifth round of the season.
Team Mahindra Adventure was part of the Rally competition. They had so far won three out of the four events. The team has secured top three positions at K 1000 Rally and have thus, sealed the Championship title for 2014. They have won the Rally of Maharashtra, Rally of Coimbatore, Rally De Bengal and finally the K 1000 Rally.
Team Mahindra Adventure won the Indian Rally Championship 2014 with their Super XUV500. It is the very first diesel SUV to win the rally championship. The top three positions have been claimed by Team Mahindra Adventure, which is a great achievement for the Indian manufacturer.
Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. commented, "This unprecedented victory by Mahindra SUVs is yet another testimony of the tough and rugged DNA of Mahindra vehicles. Having already won the top positions in three of the four rounds of the Indian Rally Championship, our emphatic win at the prestigious ‘K 1000 Rally 2014', has sealed our position for the overall title of IRC."
He further added, "The fact that all the three top positions were secured by Team Mahindra make this win even more special. Time and again our SUVs are proving their mettle on rough terrain against the competition and we will continue to do so during the rest of the IRC season as well."
The Super XUV500 was driven by APRC Champion Gaurav Gill and his co-driver Musa Sheriff, they won the Rally Championship. In second place was Desert Storm Champion Sunny Sindhu and co-driver PVS Murthy. Completing the podium was reigning Indian Rally Champion Amitrajit Ghosh and his co-driver Ashwin Naik.
