Land Rover Discovery Sport Rated Highest Safety By Euro NCAP

Euro NCAP has rated the Land Rover Sport, which is due to launch next year, 5 stars for safety. The new Discovery Sport will replace the Freelander globally and will be available as the cheapest Land Rover when launched.

The SUV will be equipped with very advanced safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking system. This system uses a digital stereo camera placed near the rear view mirror of the SUV, which will detect a collision threat and automatically brake, after giving the driver a visual and audible warning.

The SUV will be equipped with a pedestrian airbag, a first of its kind in this segment and retractor pretensioners come as standard even for the third row seats.

Other features that the Land Rover will be equipped with are:

• ABS (Anti-lock braking system)
• DSC (Dynamic stability control)
• Roll stability control
• Emergency brake lights
• Electronic traction control
• Reverse traffic detection
• Seatbelt reminders
• Lane departure warning

Optional features will be:

• Active speed limiting
• Traffic sign recognition
• Blind spot monitoring with closing vehicle sensing
• Reverse traffic detection

The Discovery Sport will have a comprehensive occupant safety package like:

• Driver and passenger airbags
• Thorax or side airbags
• Driver knee airbag
