Lamborghini LPI 910-4 Asterion Unveiled At 2014 Paris Motor Show
Italian super car manufacturer Lamborghini has unveiled its very first plug-in hybrid. They have christened their new vehicle as Asterion LPI 910-4 and revealed it at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Lamborghini's Asterion is a concept vehicle and is an example of future products to come from the Italian manufacturer. This is the very first time the super car maker has attempted a plug-in hybrid. The LPI 910-4 will provide Lamborghini handling and refinement with a pure electric range of 50 kilometres.
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, explained, " Lamborghini is always looking ahead, investing in new technologies and setting new benchmarks, delivering the unexpected."
He further added, "Lamborghini continues to focus on weight reduction as a means to reducing CO2, for example through the investment in carbon fiber engineering, which also contributes to our quest for the best super sports car handling and performance."
The Asterion sports a 5.2-litre, V10 FSI engine, which is mid-mounted. It has an extremely fast shifting 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also gets three electric motors that power the super car. Lamborghini have been able to extract 910 horsepower from this machine.
Lamborghini's Asterion concept mixes retro styling with modern touches. It adorns a Blue Elektra glittering paint scheme. The super car sports Lamborghini's traditional design language and mixes it with interesting modern touches. They have incorporated several carbon-fiber components.
The Italian super car maker has paid special attention to detail within the cockpit of Asterion. They car will still sport only two seats and has a classic ivory and brown interior. Lamborghini will also utilise aluminium and carbon fibre within the cabin.
