Land Rover Discovery With Invisible Hood
A few days ago we had reported regarding Land Rover's Discovery Vision C. They now have provided us with a second teaser about their future product.
The new Discovery from Land Rover is expected to get an invisible hood. When we first heard and seen this technology, it was like taking a step into the future. Now most of you may be thinking why is it invisible in the first place.
Land Rover has combined technology with innovation to create an all new feature never before seen on any production car. The Discovery still is in Concept stage; however, it will be a key feature in their new products.
The car will be fitted strategically with many cameras. This is the key element for the invisible hood. The cameras will project images from below the car creating an illusion of the hood not being present.
The projection is displayed on the lower part of its windshield. The visual display is a treat and gives you a clear view of what is beneath the SUV. This is sure to increase the driving experience, while off-roading.
Dr Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology for Jaguar Land Rover, explains, "As our vehicles become more capable and autonomous off-road, we will ensure the driver has the confidence to allow the car to continue to progress, over any terrain."
He further added, "We are developing new technologies including the Transparent Bonnet to give drivers an augmented view of reality to help them tackle anything from the toughest off-road route to the tight confines of an urban car park."
All these technology will be showcased in their Discovery Vision Concept car, which will debut at the New York Auto Show on 16th of April. The innovations are sure to surprise many and Land Rover claims there are many more surprises in store.
