Indian Government Could Support Eco-Friendly Vehicles

More and more countries are finding alternate fuels and others taking several measures to ensure a greener and sustainable future. We now hear that the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe will offer a minimum of two million Yen(INR 11,85,546) as subsidy for fuel cell vehicles.

Several Japanese automobile manufacturers will join with the government to further production of fuel cell vehicles. Toyota will be the first to launch its fuel cell vehicle by March end of 2015. The vehicle is expected to priced roughly around seven million Yen, which due to the subsidy buyers will have to pay only five million Yen for.

The Japanese Prime Minister tested a fuel cell vehicle and has since then opted to help the cause. He will provide subsidies and make sure government agencies also use these fuel cell vehicles. He admitted this is the future of the automobile as it does not release any CO2, which is good for the environment.

Honda is also set to launch its first fuel cell vehicle in Japan by 2015. The system uses hydrogen as a fuel source; it uses electricity to combine hydrogen and oxygen. There is a negligible amount of CO2 produced from the process - it mainly emits water vapour and heat.

The Indian government should take cues from the Japanese officials, who have learned they need to find alternate fuels for a sustainable future. It is important to act now, as the fossil fuel of the world is being depleted every year and as reported earlier, only 53 years worth of fuel remains.

Even motorsports are taking a step further and developing new technologies. The Formula E championship is expected to introduce several new battery powered options in vehicles. We hope the Indian government will act before its too late. They have planned to introduce subsidies, however, it is still to be confirmed whether it will be implemented or not.
