Honda Mobilio MPV India Launch On 23rd July, 2014
The MPV segment is flourishing in India and best seller of its segment is Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. However, the competition is ready to launch its products in the following months. First to join the party will be Honda's MPV, christened Mobilio that will be launched on 23rd July, 2014.
The Japanese manufacturer Honda has begun its television commercials for Mobilio. The commercials feature Indian comedian Kapil Sharma, who highlights the MPV and its features in his own unique style. Honda has also been taking the Mobilio from city to city and promoting it in shopping malls.
Honda will power its Mobilio MPV with a petrol and diesel engine option. The powertrains will be similar to that used in the current Honda City Sedan. The petrol 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an optional CVT. It will produce a peak torque of 145 Nm and a maximum power output of 119 PS.

The Japanese engineers will provide a 1.5-litre diesel powered i-DTEC engine in the Mobilio. The engine will generate maximum power of 100 PS and peak torque of 200 Nm. The Honda i-DTEC engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Honda's Mobilio is expected to be more premium and luxurious than its competitors, however, we expect aggressive pricing of the MPV. It will sport alloy wheels, reverse parking camera, Bluetooth connectivity with AUX and USB and a touch screen infotainment system.
We expect Honda to price its Mobilio MPV at an attractive price of INR 6,00,000 to INR 7,00,000 for its base variant. When launched on 23rd of July, it will compete with Maruti SUzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. Datsun will join the party later with its GO+ MPV, which will launch in the following months.
