Honda HR-V Launching In US Soon

Honda has been developing a compact SUV, which is no secret. The car is based on their current Jazz/Fit platform. The car was christened 'Vezel' and sales commenced in Japanese markets from December 2013.

The car is slated to launch in most markets in 2014 itself. First it will be reaching the shores of US; However, it won't be sold as Vezel. In US Honda will call their HR-V, which will revive an old product called Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle.

Honda has confirmed this name as they have filed for a patent with U.S. Patent and Trademark. The Japanese manufacturer had recently showcased its car to their US dealer. The car had HR-V badging, thus confirming their name intentions.

Honda has confirmed though this compact SUV will not make it to Indian markets. The Japanese car manufacturer is expected to launch the car in North America, Australia and Europe eventually.

The HR-V from Honda will be assembled in their Celaya plant at Mexico. The facility has a capacity to manufacture over 200,000 units. They currently build the Fit/Jazz, which is going to share the platform.

Honda earlier sold the HR-V in European markets beginning in 1999 and stopped sales in 2006. The earlier car too was a sub-compact SUV. The Japanese has opted for the HR-V name as it would be easier for people to recollect the earlier car and relate it with the current car.

It would be great if Honda reconsiders, whether they should or should not get their HR-V / Vezel compact SUV to India.
