Hindustan Ambassador Spare Parts Availability - Will It Be A Problem?
Yesterday (June 4th), RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's convoy was involved in a minor accident in which his security escort vehicle rear ended his Hindustan Ambassador.
Fortunately, the impact was light and as a result Bhagwat escaped unhurt. However, his official car, an iconic white HM Ambassador was not so lucky. Though the car was not majorly damaged, it still received a dent on the boot door and the rear crash guard.
This brings up the question, will existing Hindustan Ambassador sedans face spare parts shortage in the coming months? After all, there are still quite a few Ambassadors plying Indian roads, be it taxis, VIP cars or the few personal vehicles.
To get our answer, we contacted a Hindustan Motors dealer in Kolkata who informed us that getting spare parts for Ambassadors will not be a problem. He said that for the past 20 years, parts for the Ambassador have come not only from the manufacturer, but also from several third party vendors.
This has not only kept prices of parts low for the Ambassador rich taxi industry in Kolkata so far, but will continue to help keep the now endangered classic car species alive. At least until there is considerable demand.
