Formula One 2014 China Qualifying In Rain
The 2014 Chinese F1 qualifying took place in heavy rain conditions. If you stay in India you know how treacherous it is to drive during the monsoon season. Now imagine driving a car at 300 plus km/hr and all that you can see if the flashing red light off the front car.
The practice session was dominated surprisingly by Scuderia Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who was closely followed by Petronas AMG Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Sebastian Vettel in his Red Bull Racing was not far off the pace.
Force India driver's suffered the most and could only manage 16th fastest time by Sergio Perez, while team mate Nico Hulkenberg impressed the team by securing eighth place on the grid.
McLaren Mercedes Duo again did not have a great qualifying session. Kevin Magnussen achieved the fifteenth fastest time. Single World Championship winner Jenson Button, who is the current Ambassador for Rolls Royce cars managed 12th position on the grid.
If you think Ferrari did well, no they did not. We did see some improvement and they aren't far behind at least at this circuit. The Spanish Fernando Alonso was the best among the two and achieved 5th position on the grid. The Iceman Kimi Raikkonen was still struggling with the Ferrari and his setup and could place his car 11th on the grid.
Once again the field was dominated by Lewis Hamilton and his Petronas AMG Mercedes car. He easily secured pole position and is pipped to win the race tomorrow too. His team mate Nico Rosberg showed good pace, however he could only manage the fourth fastest time.
Surprisingly Daniel Ricciardo out performed his team mate Sebastian Vettel once again. They have split the Petronas AMG Mercedes drivers. The Australian will start the race in second position, while German team mate will begin the race from third position.
