Ford India had recently given a mild facelift to their Endeavour SUV. There was speculation that the American manufacturer would be revamping their SUV soon. The manufacturer has now revealed their production ready model.
Ford will offer their next-generation Endeavour in Australia, China, New Zealand, South Africa and India. In certain markets the SUV will be renamed as the Everest, however, in India they are expected to retain the Endeavour name.
The American manufacturer had showcased their SUV for the very first time in Sydney, Australia. It was christened as ‘Everest Concept' and was showcased in 2013. In 2014 Ford unveiled the SUV at Bangkok Motor Show, which was identical to the concept with a few minor changes.
In India Ford is expected to retain their powertrains. The 2015 Endeavour will be powered by a choice of two diesel mills. Ford will offer a 2.5-litre, along with an optional 3.0-litre engine. The manufacturer is expected to offer an automatic gearbox or an optional 6-speed manual gearbox.
The interior of 2015 Endeavour will be spruced up and will be more premium than the existing SUV. Ford will provide their SYNC2 multimedia system with an 8-inch infotainment system. The cabin will be clean and premium and will borrow design elements from their F-105 pickup vehicle.
Once launched in 2015 the Endeavour will cost roughly between INR 20,00,000 to INR 30,00,000 ex-showroom. It is unclear if Ford will locally assemble their SUV or will import it directly. It will directly compete with Toyota's Fortuner and Ssangyong Rexton.
