Ford Issues EcoSport Recall Due To Three Major Issues
American automobile manufacturer, Ford has setup its facility in India. They export their vehicles to global markets from their plant in Chennai. Their most popular vehicle, the EcoSport is made in India and exported to several countries in the world.
Ford India has now announced that they will be recalling their EcoSport, compact SUV, which made its way to Australia. The manufacturer claims approximately 2,804 compact SUVs will be recalled in Australia.
The manufacturer has confirmed there are three issues with their Australian-spec EcoSport. Ford claims there could be an issue with their wiring harness. This could cause a problem in deployment of curtain airbags. There could also be an issue with the side impact sensor and seat belt pretensioner.
The models which, are in question was manufactured during 15th of June, 2013 and 26th August, 2014. Ford have confirmed that their issue is not similar to that of Takata's airbag issue. The American manufacturer claims that their curtain airbag may not deploy in case of a collision.
Ford has now announced so far if models sold in India are also affected with similar issue. The EcoSport Titanium AT and Titanium Option trim come fitted with curtain airbags in India. They manufacturer both Australian and India-spec EcoSport at their Chennai facility, thus the problem could be in Indian compact SUVs as well.
