Ford EcoBoost Wins 3rd Consecutive Engine Of The Year Award
Ford India currently provides its internationally-acclaimed EcoBoost engine only in the EcoSport. In international markets the American-based manufacturer provides the engine in almost all of its products.
Now the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has been awarded the International Engine of the Year 2014. This is the third time in a row that Ford's revolutionary engine has won the coveted award. Significantly, it has defeated engines made for supercars as well that were nominated for the award.
Bob Fascetti, Vice President, Ford Powertrain Engineering, commented, "To deliver the complete package of eye-popping fuel economy, surprising performance, quietness and refinement we knew this little 1.0-litre engine would have to be a game changer."

He further added, "Through our One Ford approach to development, EcoBoost continues to set the benchmark for power combined with fuel efficiency from a small petrol engine."
Ford's EcoBoost engine is manufactured only in three countries: Chongqing in China, Cologne in Germany and Craiova in Romania. The engine, however is being used and appreciated in over 72 countries around the globe.

The turbocharger in EcoBoost engine rotates two time faster than Formula One powered turbochargers. Ford's turbocharger rotates 4,000 times in a second. This puny engine is tuned to produce a maximum output of 140 PS in the Fiesta hatchback's Red and Black editions.
The EcoBoost engine has won 13 awards worldwide. They include seven International Engine of the Year awards in three years. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost also has been awarded the International Paul Pietsch Award 2013 for technological innovation in Germany and the Dewar Trophy from the Royal Automobile Club in Great Britain.
