Fiat Expected To Launch Abarth Models At 2014 Auto Expo
Fiat India will be at the Auto Expo, however over the past few years the Italian hasn't wooed in the Indian customer. This year Fiat is planning to get in a high range of products atleast to showcase at their stalls.
The Italian car maker will be introducing Abarth badged car in India. Abarth will be getting a Punto and the Fiat 500, however which of the two will be launched will unfold later.
The Fiat Grande Punto is most likely to be launched prior to the 500 and expect a price tag of Rs. 20 lakh for the Punto . The Mini Cooper S will finally have competition in the form of a Fiat 500 from Abarth.
A 1.4L turbocharged mill will generate 180PS of power, however the engine will be shared among both the cars.
The Cars will look visually different from the normal cars, which will include low profile tyres, sporty bumpers and the cars will sport an Abarth logo instead of a Fiat logo. The interior too well get a sporty touch-up, race seats with harness and a lower stiffer suspension setup.
For those of you who don't know Abarth is a race car maker from Turin, it was founded in 1949. To distinguish Abarth vehicles the cars sport a stylish red and yellow scorpion. Fiat and Abarth association dates back to 1952.
Abarth later on developed exhaust system and race tune kits, exclusively for Fiat. They also produced race exhausts for Lambretta ‘D' and ‘LD' models respectively. They also helped Porsche build sports and race cars.
