Datsun GO+ MPV To Be Offered Only In Petrol Option
Datsun has launched its maiden product in India the GO hatchback. At the recent 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi the Japanese manufacturer showcased its MPV bound for India. They have named it the GO+ and has been launched in Indonesia already.
Datsun is expected to launch its GO+ in India during the festive season. Now there is speculation that when the vehicle launches it will be available like the hatchback only as a petrol powered vehicle. The MPV segment demands a diesel option and this could play against the success of Datsun MPV.
The Japanese manufacturer will provide the GO+ MPV with a 1,198cc, in-line three engine. The petrol powered MPV will be tuned to produce 104 Nm of peak torque along with 68 horsepower. The engine will be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The GO+ has been launched in Indonesia in various trims such as, A, Option A, D, T and Option T. Datsun has priced its base variant of the MPV at INR 4,42,000. While top of the line GO+ has been priced at INR 5,36,000 for Indonesian markets. In India we expect Datsun to price its MPV lower than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Dastun will not provide an AMT version of its MPV, the Japanese manufacturer wants to provide affordable vehicles. With the inclusion of AMT the price will be hiked considerably and the goal will be lost. We believe Datsun should not wait for the festive season and should launch it as soon as possible.

Honda is set to launch its MPV the Mobilio by mid July, 2014. It is expected to be priced higher than the Ertiga. Datsun GO+ will surely give tough competition to the Mobilio. However, Honda could benefit from an earlier launch. We will have to wait and see if not having a diesel option will affect sales.
