BMW To Launch 7-Series ActiveHybrid In India On 23rd July
BMW will be launching its 7-Series ActiveHybrid in India on 23rd July, 2014. The German luxury car manufacturer is taking the initiative of getting alternate fuels and mode of transports possible. They had showcased the i8 Supercar at the 2014 Auto Expo and that is scheduled to launch this year in India.
The German luxury car manufacturer will be providing its ActiveHybrid 7-Series vehicle with a conventional engine paired to an electric motor. It will sport a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine. It will produce maximum power of 320 bhp along with 450 Nm of peak torque.
BMWs electric motor will generate an additional 210 Nm of peak torque. It will also support the conventional engine with an added 55 horsepower. The 7-Series ActiveHybrid will be paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and will power the rear wheels.

BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The top speed has electronically been restricted to 250km/h and is among the fastest in its segment. The German manufacture will get the ActiveHybrid to India as a Completely Built Unit(CBU). We expect the vehicle to cost in excess of INR 1,50,00,000.
In India the 7-Series ActiveHybrid will compete against the likes of Toyota's Camry hybrid and Prius. The hybrid segment has not been accepted in India completely and BMW believes there is potential for them in the Indian market.
