BMW Reveal X5 M & X6 M Sports Activity Vehicles
The Los Angeles Motor Show was held on 21st to 30th of October, 2014. Several manufacturers showcased various concepts and future launches. BMW also was present and showcased two new products at the motor show.
The German manufacturer pulled off its covers off their two SAVs (Sports Activity Vehicles). They are the X5 and X6 and will be powered by M engines by the manufacturer. Both products will be available from April, 2015 in the United Kingdom. We expect them to arrive in India later during the year.
BMW will be providing both the X5 M and X6 M with a V8 4.4-litre twin-turbo engine. It will be an all wheel drive system with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox. The same engine is used in their M5.
The top speed of these SAVs has been limited to 249 km/h. BMW engineers have extracted a maximum power output of 567 bhp making it their most powerful SAVs till date. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a matter of 4.2 seconds.
The X5 M and X6 M have been developed at historic racetrack, the Nurburgring. Both vehicles have good cornering ability, which will surprise most owners. The German manufacturer has given its new offering a more sporty stance than its predecessor.
BMW engineers have managed to make this engine more frugal and are expected to have reduced CO2 emissions by 20 percent. They have increased performance of these SAVs by ten percent and have been able to reduce fuel consumption at the same time.
In the United Kingdom BMW will put a price tag of INR 88,36,968 on its X5 M model. The more stylish looking X6 M will attract a price tag of INR 91,21,178. We believe these SAVs will be priced slightly higher in India than internationally.
