BMW India To Launch 7-Series ActiveHybrid On 24th July
German luxury automobile manufacturer will be launching its ActiveHybrid 7-Series car on the 23rd of July, 2014. The vehicle will be identical to the regular 7-Series, only with a hybrid system. BMW is taking a step into the future by launching hybrid vehicles and preparing the market for its i8, which will be launched in India soon.
The 7-Series ActiveHybrid will sport a 3.0-litre inline-6 engine. It will be capable of producing 450 Nm of peak torque along with a power output of 320 bhp. BMW will also add an electric motor, thus making it a hybrid vehicle.
The German manufacturer claims its electric motor will add 55 horsepower to the combustion engine. BMW's electric motor will also generate 210 Nm of additional torque for the 7-Series ActiveHybrid. The manufacturer has equipped the ActiveHybrid with a ZF 8-speed auto gearbox, power will be delivered to the rear wheels.

BMW claims their 7-Series ActiveHybrid will achieve 100 km/h from a standstill in just 5.7 seconds. The German vehicle is considered to be the fastest in its segment. Top speed of the ActiveHybrid is electronically restricted to 250 km/h.
The 7-Series ActiveHybrid will be launched in India as Completely Built Unit (CBU). We expect the German manufacturer to price its vehicle at approximately INR 1,50,00,000. BMW will have to compete with the likes of Toyota in India, who offer hybrid vehicles like Prius and Camry hybrid.
