Ashok Leyland Get USD 17 Million Order From Sri Lanka

Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has received an order worth USD 17 million (INR 104 crore), from Sri Lanka to deliver 630 buses.

Through Ashok Leyland's joint venture in Sri Lanka, the company received this order from private bus operators in Lanka.

Ashok Leyland had previously delivered buses to Sri Lanka and established itself as a market leader in the country.

Ashok Leyland's managing Director, Vinod k Dasari said, "This order is further evidence of the confidence Sri Lankan customers have in our capability to offer the most appropriate products and transport solutions to them through our JV company - Lanka Ashok Leyland,"

The publicly listed joint venture company with the government is performing really well and Ashok Leyland shares were trading 0.22 per cent up at Rs 44.70 apiece during afternoon session on the BSE.

Lanka Ashok Leyland was set up in 1982 as a Public Limited Liability Company and operations started in 1983 as a joint venture between Lanka Leyland Ltd., a company belonging to the Government of Sri Lanka and Ashok Leyland Ltd. India.
