2015 Ford Edge Revealed As Global Crossover

American-based automobile manufacturer, Ford has revealed its all-new Edge as a global crossover. The 2015 version of Edge will be a step up from the EcoSport in terms of luxury. It will be sold in certain emerging markets as well as American and European markets.

The previous generation of Edge crossover was on offer in North America since 2006. In 2008 the vehicle was on sale in Brazil and in 2011 it commenced sales in China. The 2015 Edge crossover is expected to be commence sales in North America by early 2015, while the remaining countries to get the crossover will get it by late 2015.

Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford Europe, explains, "All-new Edge will deliver more room for passengers than large competitor SUVs that cost considerably more. The styling and suite of comfort, convenience and safety technologies in Edge rival the premium offerings in Europe."

The 2015 Edge by Ford is a semi-luxury crossover and will compete against the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen. It was showcased as a concept vehicle at Los Angeles Auto Show. The global crossover is expected to turn the fortune of Ford across the world.

The Ford Edge will be a step-up from the EcoSport when it reaches the domestic market. The Edge will be comfortable for five occupants with two rows of seating. The crossover will have superior handling characteristics and is being marketed as a great handling vehicle.

Ford has revealed the price for the 2015 Edge in America. The base trim of the crossover will cost INR 17,43,770, while the fully loaded, top of the line model will cost INR 24,31,957. The American manufacturer has not confirmed pricing for India, however, we believe Ford could bring this vehicle to India in the luxury segment or the growing crossover segment.
