2015 BMW X4 Debuts At New York Auto Show
BMW has revealed a new product in their X-range of cars, the X4. The new product will be slotted between the X3 and x5. However, we find it aesthetically similar to BMW X6. The 2015 X4 built by the German manufacturer is termed as their new 'Sports Activity Coupe'.
The German automobile giant has showcased their X4 at the ongoing New York Auto Show. Aesthetically, the 2015 X4 looks close to the X6 and borrows many design cues and features from its older sibling.
BMW will offer the X4 with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that will produce 240 horsepower.
The X4 will also be available with a more powerful 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged engine and will generate an impressive 300 horsepower. It will transfer power via BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system.
Both the engines will be mated to an eight-speed auto gearbox, with no other transmission option available as of now.
BMW claims the X4 is spacious enough for five adults. Their new premium mid-size vehicle will set up a new niche in the automotive segment. The X4 combines the aggressive styling of BMW coupes along with the strength of their X-range of vehicles.
BMW will price the X4 lower than the X6, but it will still be an exclusive premium vehicle. The powerful 3.0-litre engine will be priced at around 50,000 USD. The smaller, 2.0-litre version will cost approximately 45,625 USD.
The X4, like most of BMW vehicles can be further customised with a wide range of options to choose from. Let's hope BMW gets the X4 to India since it will be a more affordable alternative to the X6.
