2014 World Performance Car Is Porsche 911 GT3
The 2014 World Performance Car has been chosen and it may not come as a surprise to many. The title for 2014 goes to Porsche 911 GT3. A few people were surprised Porsche won the title, as there was a recall issue. Earlier, the Audi A3 was declared the 2014 Car of the Year at the New York Motor Show.
There was an issue with the engine of Porsche's 911 GT3, which in some cases had caught fire. The problem was not a minor one - the German manufacturer was going to extent of replacing the entire engine. Nonetheless, it controversially won the title.
The other cars that were nominated for the 2014 World Performance Car of the Year title were the Ferrari 458 Speciale and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The Porsche GT3 has a 3.6-litre, flat-six engine that produces 475 horsepower and is mated to a 7-speed PDK double-clutch transmission. It will also feature paddle-shifters for quick gear changes and active rear-wheel steering.
The GT3 can achieve a top speed of 196 mph, while 0 to 62 mph is achieved in 3.5 seconds. Porsche have priced the car originally at 100,540 Pounds
Do you think the jury has made the right choice by naming the Porsche GT3 as the 2014 World Performance Car of the Year, over the Ferrari and Corvette?
