Volkswagen Golf R Mk7 Packing 296 HP, AWD Revealed
Every once in awhile VW dresses up its humble Golf hatch with a performance kit and calls it the ‘R' spec version. The last Golf R was revealed earlier this year. Now, the company has a new one and it is even quicker.

In the styling department, keeping it low key, VW adds a new bumper, side sills, a rear diffuser with integrated quad tailpipes, blacked out headlamps with daytime running lights, matte chrome mirror caps and lastly ‘Cadiz' alloy wheels which will come in either 18 or 19 inches.
Though images of the interior are not available, VW says its been thoroughly customised with front sport seats, R design instrument cluster, redesigned navigation system and an optional Nappa carbon leather package.
Now comes the serious bit. The 2.0 liter turbocharged engine now sitting at the front generates 296 HP and 380 Nm of torque. What's more, the manual six speed/optional six speed automatic transmission run all four wheels. The driver is further aided by a host of electronics features, including electronic differentials, which control power delivery to individual wheels.
100 km/h now comes in just 5.3 seconds, making it the quickest in the long history of Golf. This will further go down to 4.9 seconds if you use the automatic transmission. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h. VW Golf R Mk7 will go on sale in Europe for €38,325 (INR 32.47 lakhs). We wish VW would launch a similar Polo R product in India.
