Suzuki A:Wind Concept Previews Next Gen Maruti A-Star/Alto
This folks is the Suzuki A:Wind Concept. A car that's expected to be the pre-production version of the next-gen Maruti A-Star and Alto (outside India).
The A:Wind Concept, showcased at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2013 has been developed to "bring fresh wind to the A-segment as a global compact car," according to Suzuki.
Suzuki A:Wind is centered around three design aspect - dynamic body, roomy cabin and fine quality - which are supposed make it the best A-segment vehicle on offer. Judging from just the images we'll say the A:Wind has a good chance.

Suzuki A:Wind measures 3600 mm long, 1600 mm wide and 1540 mm high, with a wheelbase thats 2425 mm long. Except for the width, the A:Wind exceeds the A-Star's dimensions.
The 'dynamic' front grille on the A:Wind has an uncanny similarity with the Lexus spindle grille. Nevertheless, it does look stylish and modern.
Those are projector headlight units, with LED elements, but we can be certain they won't make it to the production version.
Same goes for the LED lamps at the rear.Towards the side the Suzuki A:Wind has some attractive character lines which make it looks more mature and adds to the appeal of the car.
Overall, the A:Wind Concept retains the typical Alto/A-Star design characteristics, but its the addition of the over the top front face (which somehow works), the side character line, the LED lighting and to a large extent, the bright colours which give it a distinct look. Unfortunately, most of these are unlikely to be carried over to the actual car.
The interior is a different matter, however, which looks instantly familiar. And it should because it features several common elements that exist in production Suzuki hatchbacks, including Suzuki and even the old A-Star. This includes the air vents, the steering, the handbrake lever and door handles.
Owing to its larger dimension Suzuki says the A:Wind will offer a more spacious cabin with increased distance between front and rear seating, wider door openings, easier access to the cabin and class leading luggage space.
Suzuki A:Wind Concept is powered by a 996cc engine mated to a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels. Expect Suzuki to showcase the A:Wind Concept at the India Auto Expo in Feb 2014.
