Maruti Stingray: What’s All The Buzz About?
The leading car manufacturer in India, has stormed the small car segment. The latest entrant in this section comes in the form of ‘Maruti Stingray'. The company hopes to capture hearts of Indian customers, who are on the lookout for a tall boy, hatchback, design.
The Indian auto industry is currently facing a slowdown in sales, and with the launch of this new car from Maruti, the company is looking at volume numbers. Maruti has a vast portfolio in India and is always on the lookout to beef-up their hatchback stable.
Maruti Stingray a replica of WagonR?
We have received tons of inquiries, with regards to the differences between the Stingray and WagonR. Firstly, the new car is an extension of the WagonR. Maruti claims the Stingray is aimed at meeting aspirations of young India. By that, we are guessing its all about the ‘Style Factor' and price!

Price ~
The WagonR is priced between 3.58 - 4.13 lakhs. The Wagon R MC Vxi ABS costs 4.45 lakhs. The Stingray on the other hand is priced at 4.10 - 4.67 lakhs.

Performance ~
Maruti has equipped the Stingray and WagonR with a 1.0-litre, 67.1 bhp petrol engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In terms of engine and power figures, its the same old engine.

Exteriors ~
The all new stingray features a stylish chrome finished grille, alloy wheels and new tail lamps. All new cars rolling out these days are snatching up projector headlamps, large air dams and snazzy fog lamp housings.

Interiors ~
On the interiors front, the Stingray comes equipped with all-black interiors and a leather wrapped steering. One of the stand-out interior feature is a blue-back lit instrumentation cluster.
The WagonR comes with dual tone interiors (beige and black).
Verdict ~
Hands down the Stingray beats the WagonR in styling. If you are looking for a sporty ‘Tall Boy', hatchback design, the Stingray is a good choice.
Do not expect mind blowing performance from this Maruti; however if you are looking to get hold of a hatchback which has sporty looks with credibility and reliability the Stingray scores high! Let's not forget the Stingray is an identical twin of the WagonR, which has stood the test of time.
