Autocar Renders Mahindra's Response To EcoSport
Autocar India recently caught sight of a new compact SUV/crossover model from Mahindra, code named S101, being tested. While the particular test car was heavily disguised based on it, along with some informed speculations, the publication has now created a rendering of what the planned compact SUV from Mahindra might look like.
A sub Quanto model from Mahindra is only expected because of the highly successful entry of Renault Duster and the much more competitively priced, soon to be launched, Ford EcoSport. The new compact SUV from Mahindra is expected to cost as low as INR 5 lakhs.
The first thing that strikes us when we look at the rendering is its uncanny resemblance to XUV500. Naturally, the smaller vehicle is also expected to sport a few features from its larger cousin. While the new vehicle will be a sub 4 meter model for the sake of keeping the price low, it will still reportedly come with a 6 seater and an 8 seater variant. An 8 seater would automatically mean no boot space. Also, to accommodate seating for three people in the front row the gear lever will move to the dash.
A few other important details about the S101 have also been revealed. This includes the use of an all-new monocoque chassis, petrol and diesel engine variants belonging to a new series and front wheel drive.
We wait eagerly for more information about this interesting new model, which we speculate, could make its debut lateer this year or in early 2014.
