Mahindra Reva e2O EV Headed For 18th March Launch
Mahindra Group is taking a step forward towards its vision of the "Future of Mobility for a sustainable tomorrow" with the e2O EV. The e2O was first shown shown to the world at the New Delhi Auto Expo in January last year. Though the car was ready to head into production soon after its announcement last year the company was waiting for a suitable market environment to launch it. Mahindra Reva's expectations, however, were not met as the Finance Minister did not announce any subsidy for electric cars.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, "We are delighted to announce the launch of the e2o, which will mark a significant milestone in Mahindra's automotive journey. Electric vehicles today epitomize clean and green driving and Mahindra wants to take the lead in developing this segment and its surrounding eco system. We are humbled with the kind of feedback we have received so far on the e2o, which reaffirms our conviction to remain committed and invested in this segment". Dr Goenka further added, "We sincerely hope that such an initiative will find the desired support and incentives from all governmental agencies that will support us in this journey of providing clean mobility solutions."
Reva e2O is a next generation electric car, which, besides deriving its electric power from regular sources, also boasts of "Sun2Car" technology. Reva e2O can charged using any regular 15 amp plug point at home or at work. In addition, the the car's lithium ion batteries can also be charged using Sun2Car solar technology.
Reva e2O will be manufactured at the company's plant in Bangalore, which is India's first platinum certified automobile manufacturing facility.
