Lamborghini Bangalore Dealership Talks Are Ongoing
It's not just the mainstream car manufacturers that are looking to expand their business in India. Italian supercar maker Lamborghini, which recently opened its second showroom in the country is reportedly looking to tap into the pool of the rich and young to sell more Aventadors and Gallardos in India. In this regard the company plans on opening a third showroom in the southern city of Bangalore.
Speaking to reporters Automobili Lamborghini SpA President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, "At present, we are in discussion for a third dealership. Bangalore is the city where we intend to open."
Winkelmann also informed reporters that the company intends to sell 30-40 cars a year in India in the near future. So far the company has sold over 90 cars, most of which are Gallardo models. Last year, 17 Lambo's were sold and the target this year is to exceed 20 units.
Those numbers may sound puny compared to thousands of cars Maruti Suzuki or even Audi sells. But considering Lamborghini supercars start only at INR 2.8 crores and go up till INR 6.30 crores, the profit margin is huge.
In India, Winkelmann revealed, it is mostly first generation entrepreneurs and second generation businessmen, aged between between 30 and 40 years who purchase Lamborghinis. Indian Lambo owners are on an average much younger than European buyers.
