Apple 'iOS In The Car' Announced At WWDC 2013
The iPhone maker for long has been pushing for its mobile OS, iOS, to be integrated into in-car infotainment systems. So far, Apple says, 95 percent of the cars on road support music playback and control via iPhones and iPods. Few manufacturers, Ferrari for example, take that integration a bit further. But deep routed iOS integration is still missing. Apple plans to fill in that void in 2014.

Apple's description: "iOS in the Car seamlessly integrates your iOS device - and the iOS experience - with your in-dash system. If your vehicle is equipped with iOS in the Car, you can connect your iPhone 5 and interact with it using the car's built-in display and controls or Siri Eyes Free. Now you can easily and safely make phone calls, access your music, send and receive messages, get directions, and more. It's all designed to let iPhone focus on what you need, so you can focus on the road."
iOS in the car will provide commute summary in the car's display, informing you about the estimated travel time, traffic conditions and more.
Siri Eyes Free will not only let you make calls, but will also playback voicemails, let you return missed calls. All through voice, without the need to touch the display or even having to look at it.
iOS in the car will bring Siri based audio controls, for local music, iTunes Radio, audiobooks and even third party music services and apps installed in your iOS device.
Turn by turn based navigation can be accessed by just saying the address to Siri or from any email or text message containing addresses.
Text messages, be it SMS or iMessage, will be read aloud by Siri. You will be able to compose and send new messages using Siri Eyes Free.
2014 will be the year when several cars makes will start to widely adopt ‘iOS in the car'. Some of these automakers include Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Ferrari, Chevy, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Acura, Opel and Acura.
