Hyundai Launches 7-Seater Santa Fe In USA

Hyundai has launched a seven seater version of the Santa Fe premium SUV in the US market following the huge success the regular 5-seater Santa Fe (sold as the the Santa Fe Sport). The 7 seater Santa Fe was first unveiled during the 2012 Now York Auto Show.

The 7-seater Santa Fe launched in the US by Hyundai is priced at $28,350 (approximately INR 15.08 lakhs). The new Santa Fe will be Hyundai's flagship SUV in the US above the Veracruz.

The 7 seater Santa Fe will be a welcome addition to Hyundai Motors' line-up in India. Unfortunately, Hyundai has designed this car only in a left hand drive configuration aimed at American and Chinese markets. The Santa Fe has not been a huge sales success and this 7-seater could well be the boost the premium SUV needs in India. We can only speculate that if the the 7-seater Santa Fe is a success, Hyundai could as well develop a RHD version.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe to be launched in India will not be similar to the 7-seater version. It will continue to be powered by a 194bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine. This engine is sufficient to make the Santa Fe the most most powerful SUV in its segment in India.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe to be launched in India is expected to carry premium features like leather seats, GPS, sun roof and fuel saving technologies such as engine stop start. Expected to be priced around INR 25 lakhs, the Santa Fe will be competing against the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Ssangyong Rexton.
