The launch of the new Honda City is an extremely important one for the automaker and it will most likely turn out to be a success since the automaker has focussed on all the right areas. While the car itself does not look radically different from the outgoing model, it's what's inside that makes all the difference.
Honda has focused on the interior to make it more premium by improving the quality of material. Variants can also be expected to be feature rich for a reasonable asking price. Apart from all the visual and electronic upgrades, it is the first ever diesel engine in a City that is expected to make the car a success.
There is already a lot of interest surrounding the car among potential buyers and certain dealers had started accepting bookings even before its reveal.
Then again, the City's popularity will be dependent to a large extent on how its priced. It's the only one factor that can make or break the car. Honda is, however, expected to be clever in this regard and keep prices, at least initially, very competitive.
To be available in five variants - E, S, SV, V, & VX, starting price of the new Honda City can be expected to be in the INR 8 lakh neighbourhood, with the trim lineup coming to a close in the region of INR 11-12 lakhs.
