The Gujarat government has decided to enhance the crime fighting capabilities of its police force by providing them with All-Terrain Vehicles from Polaris. Orders have already been placed for RZR S 800 ATVs.

Mr. Pankaj Dubey, MD, Polaris India said, "ATVs are utilised by police forces across the globe. This is for the first time our ATVs will be used by Police in India. Our vehicles are sturdy, reliable and effective over the toughest of terrains. Polaris has demonstrated various All Terrain Vehicles to the Defence, Police and paramilitary forces, as these can be used in beach patrolling, dense forest, marshy land, rocky and rough terrain".

Polaris RZR S 800 is a high performance ATV that has a twin cylinder 760cc heart, running on petrol. The engine is capable of putting out 53 PS power on to the road though an automatic transmission which distributes power to all four wheels.

Polaris RZR S 800 is a very capable off roader that can perform well on tarmac just as well as on dirt tracks. The rugged off roader will make possible for the forces to patrol difficult terrains and cover greater distances. It will also be used to cover Gujarat's expansive coastal space, for rapid pursuit operations and for providing security in sensitive zones.

The ATV can reach 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds, which would effectively make the Gujarat police force the fastest one in India.

The company has 25 outlets and 14 Experience Zones spread across the country and these will be put to good use since the contract also includes on and off site training of personnel, besides service and maintenance.

Mr Dubey added, "This is an opportunity for us to showcase the range of Polaris ATVs & ORVs unmatched ruggedness and versatility in harsh, hostile and demanding conditions and also demonstrate the strong after sales support. We at Polaris are proud to have the Gujarat Police Force, induce Polaris ATVs."
