Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Is 2013's Most Awarded Car
The newly launched Alto 800 has once again proved its crowning presence in India's heart. The Alto 800, which is India's largest selling car, has bagged many popular awards for cars by leading automobile magazines and TV channels of the country.
Launched in August 2012, the New Alto 800 has bagged ‘Best Value for money car of the year' at the Autocar India Awards 2013. The car took away the winning slots at NDTV Car and Bike Awards 2013 as the Entry Hatch Back of the Year and at the CNBC Overdrive Awards it was coveted the Compact car of the year title.
The New Alto also took away the Viewers' Choice 4 wheeler award at the CNBC Overdrive Awards. The Viewers' Choice Award is given to the car based on a voting system. Here viewers participate in the contest and vote for the best car.
Engineered to offer more mileage the New Alto delivers 22.74 kmpl to a litre of petrol which is 15 per cent higher than the earlier version. Besides, the New Alto comes in 3 factory fitted CNG variants, giving the customers more choice. These CNG variants fitted with the iGPI technology offer more power and a peppier ride experience along with reliability and safety as compared to the after market CNG fitment. Additionally, driver airbag is available as an optional feature.
Alto 800 has been a success story since day one. This model crossed its first 1 million sales mark in just eight years in November 2008, making it the fastest 1 million units selling car of India.
Besides country's largest selling car for last 8 years, Alto has also been one of the world's best selling cars for the past three years. During this period, it remained the world's largest selling compact car twice.
