The Suzuki Grand Vitara has got an update in the form of the new Escudo (The Japanese name for the 2013 Grand Vitara). Suzuki has launched the latest version of the SUV in Japan today. The new 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara is expected to make its way to India this year itself.
Suzuki has launched the new Grand Vitara with several visual changes as well as new features. The changes in the frontal design include the honeycomb grille, redesigned bumper and body graphics. There are not many changes to the interior design or features apart from a new fabric and colours for the seats and door covers. Reports say the new Grand Vitara will have new comfort as well as performance features.
Speaking about performance, the 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara retains the 2.4-litre four cylinder petrol engine that can churn out 165bhp and225Nm of torque. The Grand Vitara will be available with only four wheel drive system and is expected to have two variants. The four wheel drive system will ensure the SUV matches its reputation of being a respected off-road vehicle.
Suzuki has not stated if all the features discussed above will be available in the Grand Vitara that will be sold later in India. The Grand Vitara is one of the cheapest imported SUVs in India and is currently prices at Rs.17 lakhs for the entry level variant with manual gear box and the top end automatic costs upwards of Rs.18.3 lakhs.
Suzuki is also planning to launch a special edition model named as X-Adventure. This model will come equipped with a special Bison Brown Pearl Metallic exterior finish, 18" alloy wheels, a chrome front grille and sun roof. The special edition Grand Vitara will also get red swede finish to the seats, steering and gear lever.
