The Ssangyong Rexton saw its pan India launch today after Mahindra unveiled its latest premium SUV from South Korea in seven major India cities. The Ssangyong Rexton's price in Bangalore is Rs18.06 lakhs for the entry level RX5 and Rs.20.10 lakhs for the automatic RX7 variant.
The Rexton is the first premium SUV from Ssangyong to have been launched in India after Mahindra took over the South Korean SUV manufacturer. The Rexton is already a true international SUV as it is being sold across 70 countries.
The Ssangyong Rexton is now being assembled at Mahindra's state of the art plant in Chakan, near Pune, Maharashtra. Some of the parts needed for the Rexton are being sourced from within India and some of them are being manufactured by Mahindra too. Have a look at the new Ssangyong Rexton.
The Rexton is the first car from Ssangyong to be launched in India. It is available in two variants - the entry level RX5 which costs Rs.18.06 lakhs. The top end RX7 costs Rs.20.10 lakhs.
The Rexton is powered by a 2.7-litre diesel engine that generates 162bhp and 340Nm of torque in the manual RX5 variant. The power and torque figures go up to 184bhp and 402NM in the automatic RX7.
Variants - RX5
The RX5 comes with a five speed manual gearbox that comes with torque on demand all wheel drive system that transmits the engine's power to the front wheels whenever needed.
RX7 - Top End Variant
The RX7 is available with a five speed automatic transmission and permanent all wheel drive system.
The safety features in the Ssangyong Rexton are noteworthy. It is available with four air bags, ABS, hill decent control, Electronic Stability Program, anti slip regulation, engine immobilizer and active rollover protection.
The Rexton's interior has space, comfort and luxury all in one place. The premium leather upholstery, adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control in all three rows, dual tone beige and black interiors combine to deliver the best in class look and feel.
The Ssangyong Rexton will primarily compete against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Chevrolet Captiva. However compact premium SUVs such as the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 could also emerge as competitors.
