Sonalika Launches New Extreme MUV

ICML - International Cars & Motors Limited, the automobile division of the Sonalika Group has launched a new MUV called the Extreme. The Sonalika Extreme looks very much similar to the Sonalika Rhino which as we all no is a close replica of the Toyota Qualis. It will be available in four variants - Extreme LD (non-ac), LD (with ac), SD and VD.

ICML has stated that the new Extreme MUV is based on the Rhino's platform. The Extreme will be available in two engine variants - The DI and the CRDFi. These two engine can churn out 99bhp and 120bhp of power respectively while the torque figures for these engines are at 240Nm and 285Nm. The same CRDFi engine has been used in the Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 MUV.

ICML is hoping the new model will have a better sales story than the predecessor. The Rhino failed to attract buyers despite its close resemblance to the Toyota Qualis. The Toyota Qualis is still a much loved car for its performance, space and durability. By copying the Qualis's design, Sonalika was trying to cash in on the Qualis's popularity. Car buyers did not go by its looks alone and hence seeing a Rhino is still a rare sight.

ICML has made some changes in the new Extreme's exterior design. The interior also has some minor changes. The most notable aspect about the Sonalika Extreme is its flexible seating arrangement. The seating layout can accommodate seven to ten occupants.

The new Sonalika Extreme has been formally launched in Hyderabad. The company has stated that the new MUV will be available only in south India. The pan India launch will follow in the coming months. ICML which has about 100 dealers across the country will be showcasing the Extreme MUV in a few days.
