Sachin Gifts BMW To Saina Nehwal

Saina Nehwal who once used to travel for more than 150 kilometres sitting on the rear seat of her father's scooter to practice is now a proud owner of a BMW. The Olympic medal winner has been gifted a BMW car and its keys were handed over to her by Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Saina Nehwal has been gifted the BMW by the Andhra Pradesh Badminton association vice president Chamundeshwarinath.

Sachin Tendulkar presented Saina Nehwal with the BMW's keys in a glittering ceremony attended by celebrities from the sports and film industry. Saina's coach Pullela Gopichand and junior badminton player Sindhu were also presented with new Maruti Suzuki Swifts.

Sachin Tendulkar spoke about Saina Nehwal's Olympic performance. He said: "I am sure that she (Saina) is happy but not satisfied. We are also not satisfied because we know that you can go to greater heights. You have that ability with Gopi's guidance. There are better days ahead and as a sportsperson, you always try to believe that your best is yet to come."

Saina won her first Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics. She expressed her happiness over winning the medal. She said: " I dreamt of being a Olympic champion at the age of 9...It is unbelievable to have won the medal. I am so happy. I should thank Gopi sir for making it possible. He really worked hard with me for many years. Myself winning the first medal will really change a lot of things for badminton in India and I am sure we shall have lot more medals in future. I hope badminton becomes one of the most popular games, though may not be like cricket, in our country."

The leading Indian cricketer had recently unveiled the new BMW 3-Series in Mumbai a few weeks ago. Incidentally the car he presented to Saina was also a BMW 3-Series.

The BMW 3-Series is available in one petrol variant and three diesel variants. Sachin Tendulkar had unveiled the petrol powered 328i.
