Hyundai Elantra has been one of the much awaited upcoming launches in the country. Now reports are that the stunning new Fluidic Elantra will be launched as early as August this year.
Also the brochure of the all new Elantra has been leaked on the internet. The new Elantra which was showcased in the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year had earned a lot of attention from auto enthusiasts.
The all new Elantra 2012 will be launched in petrol and diesel variants. While the petrol variant will be powered by a 1.8L DOHC engine that produces 149.5 PS @ 6500 rpm and 177 NM of torque @ 4,700 rpm, the diesel unit will be a 1.6-litre CRDI motor with VGT that produces 128 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 259 NM of torque @ 2,750 rpm.
Both the engines will be mated to a six speed manual or automatic transmission. The new Elantra comes packed with an array of excellent features including dual zone AC with cluster ionizer, rear seat audio controls, rear AC vents, power driver seat with electric lumbar support, ventilated front seats, electric folding and heated outside rear view mirrors, electro-chromic mirror with rear view camera, silica tyres with 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, solar glass, steering mounted audio controls with bluetooth connectivity, automatic headlights and cooled glove box.
On the safety side, the new Elantra will feature vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability program (ESP), ABS, six airbags, cruise control and hill hold control. The sedan will be available in 6 colors - black, silver, white, bronze, red and blue.
The Elantra will also get two-tone cocoa black and beige colour themes for the interior.
Hyundai expects the new Elantra carry on with the success of the fluidic Verna by giving a tough competition to D segment sedans like Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence, Skoda Laura and the Volkswagen Jetta. The price of the fludic Elantra has not been out, however, expect the sedan to be priced between Rs 13-16 lakhs.
