Mercedes Benz India has unveiled the B-Class in India at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida. Mercedes Benz calls the B-Class a sports tourer which offers comfort of a sedan, flexibility of an MPV and qualities of an SUV.
The German carmaker will be launching the B-Class in September before which it will be conducting an adventure trail in promotion of the sports tourer. The programme - Ultimate Touring Trail (UTT) will see Bollywood actors Genelia D'Souza, Ritesh Deshmukh, Kalki Koechin and Gaurav Kapoor as part it and travelling across the country. The team will explore the B side of life by visiting exotic locations.
The B-Class sports tourer which is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakhs will be the cheapest car from Mercedes. The carmaker will be offering the car in both petrol and diesel engine guises mated to a 7G DCT gearbox.

The introduction of the B-class continues Mercedes-Benz's legacy as pioneers in the auto Industry. The rich array of equipment, inspiring design, coupled with the highest standards of safety and comfort, makes the New B-Class an extremely appealing product for the adventurous new generation."
Bookings of the B Class are expected to start by August last week. With the new life style car, Mercedes is targetting young audience who have been moving away from the carmaker. The carmaker which slipped into the third position in competition with BMW and Audi is placing the B-Class against best selling BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
However, while the above mentioned cars are crossovers, the B-Class is a premium hatchback. We will have to wait for some more time to see how the B-Class performs in the market.
