Maruti XA Alpha Compact SUV Set For 2014 Launch

Any new Maruti Suzuki product will grab eyeballs and the same happened to the XA Alpha compact SUV that was on show at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The XA Alpha was just a concept vehicle and an indication of how Maruti Suzuki's first SUV after the Gypsy was shaping up.

Now reports say the XA Alpha is all set to reach the market as a full production ready model by as early as 2014. The XA Alpha is expected to be named as the New Jimny once it is launched here in India. Maruti Suzuki will join the compact SUV rat race with this new car.

The XA Apha's price will be the most important aspect that will determine its success in the market. Reports say the compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki will have a starting price of INR 7 lakhs with the top end variant's price coming close to INR 10 lakhs.

The XA Alpha's price will be similar to that of the Ertiga. We will have to wait and watch to see if the similar pricing will replicate in to similar sales success? The Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha will be competing against compact SUVs such as the Mahindra Quanto, Ford EcoSport as well as the Renault Duster.

If we look at how Maruti Suzuki operates, we can anticipate the XA Alpha's launch will be held at the next Delhi Auto Expo in 2014. Maruti Suzuki had first revealed the RIII concept at the 2010 auto expo and followed it by launching the production ready Ertiga. So do not be surprised to see the new Jimny aka XA Alpha in its production ready avatar in 2014.
