Now Izuzu Turns Up To India Call; Planning SUVs

      Updated: Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 13:32 [IST]

Japanese pickup truck maker Izuzu Motors is the latest to join the SUV race in the country. Izuzu is reportedly considering two SUVs for India launch.

The SUVs under consideration are Izuzu D-Max and MU-7. It is no secret that the carmaker had met with Andhra Pradesh government officials over the setting up of a Rs 1,000 crore plant in the state.

Izuzu To Foray Into India With SUVs

The plant is expected to be operational only by 2014-15, but on immediate effect, the carmaker is looking to import completely built units or knocked down units from Thailand.

While the D-Max is a pickup truck on the lines of Tata Xenon or a Scorpio Getaway, the MU-7 is a 7-8 seater SUV. The MU-7 will be mainly competing with the not so popular Force One in the market.

We would say that the success of Izuzu SUVs will be heavily dependent on pricing. Let's wait for more information from the company.
