Honda City Shines In Used Car Market
The second hand car market in India has a wide variety of models raging from the humble Maruti 800 to a Ferrari. We wanted to know which sedans were fairing well in the second hand car market and the winner is the second generation Honda City followed by the Ford Fiesta (previous generation).
The second generation Honda City was launched by Honda in 2005. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that is frugal and peppy too. With as much as 100bhp at its disposal, the Honda City is no sluth.
The Honda city was appreciated for its ride and handling when it was launched and the same positive qualities make it one of the most preferred second hand sedans in the market. Other reasons for the second hand Honda City's success is its comfortable seating, interior space and luggage space.
A used Honda City is an ideal car to buy if you are looking for a car priced under Rs. 4 lakhs and are looking for a spacious car for city use. Its engine is durable and there will be no maintenance issues. The important thing that buyers of a used Honda City must look out for is the variant. Honda had initially launched the City with a 75bhp engine and then upgraded it with a 100bhp VTEC engine. Always go for the one with VTEC engine.
The price of a used Honda city depends on its variant. A earliest 2006 variant is priced in the range of Rs.2.5 lakhs. The City powered by the VTEC engine is priced in the range of Rs.2.8 lakhs. The City with the automatic gear box is also available within the same price range. The price under Rs.3 lakhs makes it an attractive bargain for people wanting to own an affordable sedan.
But if you are looking at a newer Honda City you need to shell out more money. The three variants of the Honda City are priced between Rs.2.9 lakhs and 3.24 lakhs for the 2007 models while the price increases by Rs.50k for 2008 models.
