Maruti Ertiga Bookings Cross 32,000 In 1 Month
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is undoubtedly a tell tale success for the Indian carmaker. The new car has surprised many people by the sheer number of bookings it has received within one month of its launch. We can say even Maruti Suzuki is pleasantly surprised by the response its latest MPV has garnered.
The Ertiga has reportedly received more than 32,000 bookings within one month of its launch. Available in seven variants, the Ertiga has emerged as a car that has created a new segment. Its compact size along with great interior space and seating capacity make it a good city car that can be used by a big family.
Ertiga's 32,000 bookings can be considered as a record too as this is the first time an MPV has received so much response. As with any new car available with both petrol and diesel variants, demand for the diesel Ertiga is higher. Maruti Suzuki has stated about 70% of its bookings were for the Ertiga's diesel variant.
Such a preference has definitely created a long list of people waiting for the Ertiga. Maruti Suzuki, which is building the Ertiga in its Gurgaon plant is planning to increase production. A recent visit to a Maruti Suzuki showroom in Bangalore made it clear that the Ertiga will follow the new Swift. Both cars had a huge expectations from buyers and bookings reached surprising levels soon after their launches.
The Swift's waiting period was consistently above six months for the diesel variants. The Ertiga's diesel variants, particularly the top end Zdi has received the bulk of the bookings. People who are planning to book the Ertiga will have to wait at least two months for the petrol variant and about 4 to 6 months for the diesel.
But you need not worry about long waiting periods for the Ertiga as Maruti Suzuki has a flexible production plan in Gurgaon which allows it to build any car on any production line. Since the Ertiga is based on a the platform of the Ritz, we expect the carmaker will make the necessary changes to boost the Ertiga's production.
