Indian Buses Go International Again

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group owned commercial vehicle manufacturer has received an order to deliver 88 AC buses worth $6.5 million or Rs.36.41 crores to the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC). The deal is in addition to a previous order from BRTC where Ashok Leyland will deliver 50 Vestibule buses.

Ashok Leyland in its release has stated that the new order adds to the more than 11,000 vehicles it has already exported to Bangladesh. Ashok Leyland's exports have increased by 25% last year.

Speaking to the media announcing the new order to export AC buses to Bangladesh, Ashok Leyland's managing Director Vinod K Dsasari said: "This represents our commitment to partner BRTC in the process of taking urban transportation in Bangladesh to a new level and underscores our preeminent status as the leading CV player in that country. At this juncture, I would like to express my thanks to our Bangladesh dealer, Ifad Autos, of over two decades for their continued support and co-operation."

Ashok Leyland is keen to be recognized as an international brand and this deal to export AC buses will definitely help. The company is aiming to become one of the top ten truck and bus manufacturers in the world.
