The Supreme Court order banning the use of tinted glass is being enforced across the country. India being a hot country, tinted glasses were appreciated by car users as this kept car interiors cool. Car users could only dread about the heat they will have to endure inside their cars, particularly during hot summer days.
Residents of Chennai, which is known for its draining heat, can at least heave a sigh of relief after a senior police official stated that car users can use curtains inside their cars while tinted glass is a strict no no.
With some police officials stating even the use of curtains was not allowed people were worried about driving log hours in their cars. The ban of tinted glasses has faced some criticism too as several women drivers have stated that they were nervous while driving during the night as they felt they will be targeted.
Even celebrities have expressed their reservations about not having tinted glasses in their cars. They have said traveling in traffic will become more difficult.
While many people including celebrities will have to endure the heat as well as being seen while in their cars, Chennai residents can consider themselves lucky. They will at least have curtains to keep themselves off the public eye. Bangalore residents cannot be that lucky as the city police commissioner has categorically stated that both tinted glasses and curtains will not be tolerated.
