Mercedes-Benz India CEO and MD Peter Honegg opened the showroom along with Akshaya Motors chief MP Shyam. Speaking on the occasion Mr Honegg said Mercedes-Benz India was looking to boost its presence in the country by opening new state of the art world class showrooms such as the one opened in Bangalore.
Mr Honegg also said the showroom was the largest premium car showroom in Karnataka and could possibly also be the largest one for the whole of South India. The showroom has a total floor area of 65,000 square feet. He said that opening Mercedes-Benz's second showroom in Bangalore was one of the first decisions he took after he was appointed as the CEO and MD.
Mercedes-Benz which sold about 5,500 cars in India last year is looking to sell more than 7,000 units this fiscal year. It is expecting to boost its sales in Karnataka from last year's 400 units to 650 units. Speaking about the company's sales, Mr Honegg also said most of the sales were currently driven by rural markets and the growth from urban markets were comparatively lower.
Mercedes-Benz's state of the art showroom will offer sales, spares and service all under one roof. People interested buy pre-owned Benz cars can also visit the showroom to buy certified Mercedes-Benz models.
