Maruti Suzuki has continued its upward journey in the sales charts this year after posting an impressive 6.5 per cent jump for the month of February. The Indian carmaker has been able to post such positive results thanks to the huge success of its recently unveiled new Swift DZire compact sedan.

Maruti Suzuki has reported monthly sales of 1.19 lakh units out of which the new Swift DZire contributed 15,068 units marking a 58.8 per cent increase. Compact cars which include the Swift, Zen Estilo and Ritz posted a sales increase of 31.1 per cent to 27,900 units

Maruti Suzuki's small cars failed to perform as much as the compact cars in February. The Maruti 800, Alto, A-Star and Wagon R put together garnered 49,104 sales registering a 8 per cent drop. Even the SX4 and Kizashi mid size sedans did not perform well with their sales declining 42.5 per cent and 44 per cent respectively.

Maruti Suzuki had posted sales of 1.15 lakh units in January this year. The carmaker garnered 1,07,653 unit sales in the domestic market registering a 6% increase while exports performed better by posting a 11.8 per cent increase with 11,296 sales.
