The Toyota Innova is one of the best selling models in India for the carmaker and also a best selling vehicle in India. It is a preferred choice when it comes to a large family or for taxi operators. Over the years, the Toyota Innova has had a few changes in design, to keep up with the current market.
Now, however, the Japanese carmaker has given a major facelift to the new Innova, that has not yet reached our shores, but soon will. So what are the major differences? Well, to tell you what the difference is between the Toyota Innova 2016 compared to the current 2015 model in short, it is a lot!
Let's take a closer look at the difference between the Toyota Innova 2016 model vs 2015 model.
The front profile of the new Toyota Innova is sleeker compared to the current Innova sold here. The bumper, grille, foglamp, and the headlights have been completely redesigned. The front profile of the Innova looks more aerodynamic, compared to the current version's boxy looking design. Also, the headlights are projectors, after Toyota has ditched the normal halogen lamps.
One look at the side profile of the 2016 Innova compared to the 2015 model, one would immediately notice that the 2016 model is longer. Structure and cabin wise, yes, the 2016 model is longer, but both the models have the same wheel base. The design towards the rear also gets a little boxy at the rear in the 2016 model and the rear wheel arches are flared, while the rear quarter glass is redesigned.
Moving to the rear of the Innova, the tail lamp cluster has been neatened out. It is now just a simple, well designed cluster that houses the warning lights, turn signals, and the reverse light. The rear is also flat compared to the model currently in sale, which looks better. Another major relief is that Toyota got rid of the chrome tailgate handle!
The power train get major changes. The 2016 Innova comes with a 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 147bhp, compared to the 2015 model, which has a 100bhp turbo diesel engine. The 2016 model will also have a choice between a six-speed automatic or a five-speed manual gearbox.
Features is something that the 2016 Toyota Innova offers in abundance. Some of the features are Keyless entry and push button start, standard driver and passenger airbags, while the top variant gets seven airbags. Stability control and hill-start assist are a standard feature across all variants in Indonesia and we only hope they make it to the Indian version as well.
Wooden inserts, slim AC vents, a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, aux, sd card and voice recognition, cooled glovebox, and climate control are some features that the top-of-the-line variant will get.
